Getting Your Credentials Recognized
In most cases, newcomers will need to have their credentials from their home country assessed to see whether you need any additional training, education or Canadian work experience before being qualified to work in Canada.
The Foreign Credentials Referral Office (FRCO) provides information, tools, path-finding and referral services on foreign credential recognition to help foreign trained workers succeed and put their skills to work in Canada more quickly. It is part of Citizenship and Immigration Canada. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/newcomers/credentials/,or get your credentials assessedhttp://www.cic.gc.ca/english/newcomers/credentials/process.asp
For more information related to the recognition and assessment of international qualifications in Canada, please view Advancing Foreign Credential Recognition.
You may wish to get your credentials evaluated before you come to Canada. The organization to assist you with this is The Canadian Information Centre for International Credentials (CICIC). This organization has information on academic and occupational credentials for all of Canada, and lists nearly 200 professions and trades, in alphabetical order. When you click on your profession or trade, you will find a link to the address and telephone number of the professional or trade association, the address and telephone numbers of provincial evaluation services and regulatory agencies, and labour market information (whether or not there is a demand for your trade or profession). The CICIC does not grant equivalencies or assess credentials. It gives advice and refers newcomers to sources of help.
